Ingredients

  • 15-20 American Pecans + for garnish
  • 2 litres full fat milk
  • 1/8 tsp powdered alum
  • 2 tbsps ghee + for greasing
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp green cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsps liquid glucose

Process

  1. Bring milk to a boil in a steel kadai. Add alum and cook on medium heat for 40 - 45 minutes or until the milk becomes grainy and begins to thicken.
  2. Reserve some American Pecans for garnish and transfer remaining in a grinder jar and grind to fine powder.
  3. Grease a burfi tray with some ghee.
  4. Add powdered pecans and sugar to the milk mixture and cook for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Add green cardamom powder, liquid glucose and 2 tbsps ghee and mix well.
  6. Transfer the mixture in greased burfi tray and arrange the reserved American Pecans on top.
  7. Set aside for 2-3 hours.
  8. Cut into squares and serve.
